As we have free internet on our first site in Delft we decided to write it up while we can.
The ferry crossing was brilliant - the Spiderwick Chronicles was a great movie - very entertaining and very comfortable in plush seats worthy of the best cinemas. Then we had lunch which was ferry style and nothing to write home about but filled a hole. After reading the newspaper and doing the crossword we were ready to disembark on foreign soils. The sun was shining as we kept calling "keep to the right". Immediately we were struck by the cleanliness of the Netherlands and the wind turbines everwhere. There were also magnificent greenhouses as far as the eye could see - flowers and fruit for all!! Some lovely old windmills as well.
We headed for Delft - approx 20 miles from the Hook of Holland and managed to get the right turning first time - and ended up in Ikea service road when Steve had to do a 56 point turn with the caravan!! He kept calm and managed it well then we thought we must have made a mistake and took off into Delft town centre. Then it went a bit astray because we went the wrong way after that turning ending up in Delft approaching cobbled pedestrian streets. A kind Dutch man saved us and gave us some very detailed and correct directions back to Ikea where we should have been all along.
Finally we arrived at a full caravan site - thank goodness we had pre-booked. Steve had to perform miracles again to manoeuver the van into a very tight space - the last one available. We were assisted by Duncan and Elizabeth - two Scots staying at the campsite alongside us, who proceeded to confuse Steve with his reversing - he remained calm!!
Were we more than ready for settling down with a drink and a meal? - tonights menu was home made meatballs and spaghetti in a spicy sauce with parmesan shavings - it was delicious and appreciated - as was the wine!
Then we realised that there was free internet in the van - hence the opportunity to write this blog - good eh? So we are relaxing with the last of the wine and Michael Buble playing on the music system - the washing up is yet to come.
Again it is a great camp site with all amenities - even a swimming pool although we won't be partaking tomorrow. It is a short bike ride into Delft town centre which looked a lot like Amsterdam but less frenetic - bridges over canals and thousands of bicycles - we are looking forward to seeing it properly tomorrow.
Thats it for tonight folks - check out the photos of Delft tomorrow when we hit it! We have washing up to do now. Then we may see if Duncan and Eizabeth are about for a chat....

Great to see that you're enjoying yourselves - think of us "mugs" beating away on PC's in air-con offices.
Are you able to pick up email?
take care
