The journey continues - to Rijnsburg

After a good nights sleep and a welcome breakfast we packed up Essie and set off for our next stop- Koningshof campsite at Rijnsburg. We completed the circular route as normal - the road maps are appalling here. Its just as well the people are so friendly and helpful. The campsite is a sister to the one we were at yesterday and the rules are the same as well as the facilities - swimming pool, tennis courts, restaurant, cafe, supermarket, laundry - great. It is still a public holiday though and so it is still very busy with lots of kids - we hope they will all go home tomorrow and continue with their normal routine - leaving the good bits for us. How selfish can we get - but we are!

Having set up on site we took the bikes and cycled 5 km to the coast - to Katwijk aan Zee. There was a carnival in full swing and bunting on every street which looked really pretty. The day was hotter than yesterday - it reached 20c so the beach was busy too. It was a lovely bike ride and the roads helped us to appreciate it. The cycle lanes are wide, even and respected by everyone - it makes cycling a pleasure. After a look around we cycled back to the van for a cuppa and a slice of cake then prepared the evening meal. We had smoked peppered mackerel with potatoes and a sweet pepper, leek, chilli, garlic, ginger and lemon concoction. That went down very well after the bike ride.

The internet signal was poor in the van so we walked up to the bar on the site where it was great - so we had to stay there and Steve had to force down a beer to justify us using their tables outside - what a pity!

The camp site reception sells tickets for the Keukenhof Gardens where we are planning to visit tomorrow so we bought some in readiness. It is a renowned tourist attraction only open between March and May each year with spectacular displays of tulips amongst other plants so that will be a very worth while visit - watch out for the pics tomorrow.

After this drink we will probably retire to the van for a last drink and bed so that we are up bright and early for our trip. Lets hope the weather lasts - it is gorgeous!
